NKT has signed a Preferred Bidder Agreement (PBA) for delivery and installation of export cable systems to the prospective offshore wind farm project Moray East, developed by MOWEL, Moray East Offshore Windfarm Ltd, owned by EDP Renováveis S.A., and ENGIE.

NKT has signed a Preferred Supplier Agreement (PSA) for delivery and installation of export and array cable systems to the prospective offshore wind farm project Triton Knoll. The project is being developed as a joint venture by innogy (50%) and Statkraft (50%), with innogy managing the project. The PSA is signed in a consortium with Boskalis’ subsidiary VBMS.

NKT has been awarded its largest order ever of over EUR 1bn by TenneT and TransnetBW. The contracts comprise the supply and installation of a 525 kV XLPE high-voltage DC (direct current) onshore cable system with a route length of approx. 750 km for the German SuedLink corridor.

In Autumn 2016, nkt cables entered into an agreement to divest its Automotive cable activities to a subsidiary of the German-based Wilms Group. The necessary regulatory approvals of the transaction have now been recieved and it can be closed, with Wilms Group taking ownership as of 30 April 2017.

A new world-record 640 kV extruded DC (Direct Current) cable system has been successfully tested and qualified by NKT Cables. The commercialisation of the first 640 kV extruded DC underground system with advanced material technology will increase the maximum power transmission of cable systems by 20% and allow better integration of distant renewable energy sources into the global energy systems.
